My TOP 6 tips of what to expect in the First Trimester| Sierra Shawn Photography | Ithaca New York
Hi Friends!
It has been too long!!! There has been so much going on in my personal life + lots of photography changes (i will update you all soon..) Anyways, I have been working on this blog for much longer than I wanted… and today I decided it was time to finally edit it a little and add a few things (I am sure my most amazing assistant will laugh because I am editing while she is enjoying time with her new baby boy! ❤❤)
Do you remember your “symptoms” (side note: I don’t feel like they are symptoms, but more like changes that rapidly happen and you get caught off guard sometimes — lets here it for those surprise your pregnant kiddos and mamas!) from when you were pregnant, or are you pregnant now, maybe you are trying to get pregnant and you want to be semi prepared for what might come?! Tell me.. what was it like for you, and how did you make it through?! I remember exactly where I was when I found out I was pregnant; and honestly.. with Maggie’s pregnancy, I was sick so fast. The first time I became sick was after eating an apple… THAT WAS FUN… NOT! I made it through… looking back I can see how I was so caught off guard especially with Mase, luckily no actual vomiting occurred with him, but the nausea lasted ALL day sometimes… UGH.
I feel like there is such a misconception of what goes on, and when; and in all honesty this short list is just something that I think is fairly common and known, but lets just review! I hope this quick list might help you recognize your pregnancy symptoms, but everyone is different. If you were someone who had some other symptoms, leave yours as a comment! Lets learn loves!! ❤ Okay.. so here is the list —
Nausea - this sure is fun, they say morning, but sometimes its all day….
Extreme fatigue - hello your body is growing a baby!!
Breast tenderness - I didn’t have this until the 3rd trimester, but I could say its like when you have your moon (“period” or menstruation) but just a bit more tender.
Your emotions are all over the place — possible crying at the tv/youtube/pandora commercials — truly I cried about ANYTHING!
Stronger sense of smell 🤢 (which usually resulted in nausea no matter what!)
increase (but maybe decrease) of sexual desire - personally i wanted nothing to do with the penis.. until the 2nd trimester! 😉🤣
There are a few more things that you might go through - these are a little more extreme and you should def check in with your midwife/ob.
heavy vaginal bleeding
sudden thirst/painful urination
severe puffiness of hands/face
vision disturbances
I noticed my symptoms of pregnancy by 4 weeks with both pregnancies. With Maggie’s pregnancy I had severe nausea with some vomiting - so severe that when we took a trip to Austin to visit my husbands best friend, we spent almost 8 hours in the hospital. I felt so bad for the boys as they sat there for 4 hours in the ER waiting room, before getting back to a room, then another 4 hours back in the room waiting to be helped… SUPER FUN!
I’d like to note that everyone is so different, and sometimes by the time you realize you are pregnant you might be out the of first trimester and moving into what I like to refer to as the FUN trimester.
With that said…. I have this helpful workbook for you to help you create your dream birth team. It kind of coincides with a project that is just so dear to my heart. I will be releasing that soon, but until then, I hope this workbook helps you and gives you the space to write out everything. ❤
Sending you infinite love!
Sierra ❤❤
